Yankee Stadium bowl game to be called Pinstripe Bowl

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The new college football bowl game to be held at Yankee Stadium starting in 2010 will be called the Pinstripe Bowl, with New Era as the title sponsor.

Last September, the Yankees announced the bowl game that will feature teams from the Big East and Big 12 conferences. The leagues have a four-year agreement in place, as does New Era.

The inaugural edition of the contest will take place December 30. It will be the first college bowl game in the Bronx since the Gotham Bowl on December 15, 1962, when Nebraska topped Miami-Florida, 36-34, at the original Yankee Stadium.

Army and Notre Dame will play the first college football game at the new Yankee Stadium, which opened last year, on November 20, 2010.
