(PHILADELPHIA) --  According to NFL sources. the Philadelphia Eagles have asked cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to restructure his current contract or he will be released by the team.

The 31-year-old cornerback is scheduled to make $15 million in 2013 with $4 million guaranteed.

Asomugha spent 2003-2010 as a member of the Oakland Raiders, being selected to three Pro Bowls in that timespan.  He has been a disappointment since signing a five-year deal worth $60 million with the Eagles in 2011.

The Eagles have gone 8-8 and 4-12 in Asomugha's first two seasons with the team.

Asomugha and the Eagles are expected to meet in Indianapolis at the scouting combine to discuss his contract.
