(GLENDALE, Ariz.) -- If Milwaukee Brewers outfielder and reigning National League MVP Ryan Braun loses his appeal for an alleged positive test for performance enhancing drugs, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp wouldn't want the award. 

The 27-year old Kemp -- who placed second in the ratings -- had a tremendous season in 2011. He hit .324 with 39 homers, drove in 126 runs, stole 40 bases, and scored 115 runs. Despite Kemp's individual success on the field, the Dodgers missed the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Braun hit .332 with 33 home runs, drove in 111 runs, and scored 109 runs. Unlike Kemp, Braun's team won their division and made it to the playoffs.

"I feel like that would be by default," Kemp said if he was given the title if it's somehow stripped from Braun. "I wish I would've won it just by them voting me and me being the MVP. That would special. But hopefully, I will have the same type of year or even better and win it straight up this year, with us making the playoffs."

The Baseball Writers' Association of America, who are the ones who handed out the award, have already said that even if Braun loses his appeal, his award will not be revoked.
